Twin Mikuni carbs on my frog-eyed 5. The noise never gets old. Prior to that car I'd zero idea or experience in anything mechanical beyond changing a wheel or topping up the fluids. Fitted the carbs myself and taught myself a bunch in the process. They'd been on the car about 2 days here and still lumpy as hell — rattling like a diesel.

Dialing it back. Going black and matt with new wheel and new QR - swopping out some of the shiny. Function also follow form as the leather wheel is nicer to use than the polished wood IMO.

First Breakfast Meet in a good few years.

Messing about with changing up dials from stock. Not sure whether I prefer the custom @RevLimiter Alphas, or the @OpenCafe_jp x @RSRefine dials. Going to run each for a week — they're both ace. I've changed to LEDs on the RevLimiters which is why they seem brighter.

Pre-BBQ supplies run with Pops. Today is going to be a warm one I think.

Interior coming on. Slowly but surely removing more shiny stuff — fitted Nakamae leather covered dash cowl, gear knob and hand-brake sleeve. Having a matt, rather than reflective binnacle makes a surprising difference, especially in the current sunny weather. I reckon I'm about there.

Early am top-up.

Summer light. Rare pic of clean(ish) car - mostly heavily covered in sticky pollen and dust ATM.

2-weeks worth of tree-sap, pollen and summer grime. Back to the daily commute tomorrow.

Morning pit stop.

Another interior addition. The alu window winder cranks (?) from Carbon Miata, with swapped-out handle/knob replacing the cheap generic drilled-out copies I'd temporarily fitted. I'll probably swap those handles out again in time when I see a vintage set I can cannibalise. They're pretty good — the Nakamae handles remain a (very expensive) item on the wish list, but a lot further down for now.

Top up time. Doing daily duties - not a garage queen, but a tool for getting me around. All be it a tool that has form as well as function.

Thursday morning refill. Nothing happening car-wise beyond putting in the miles. Needs a proper clean too.

Autumn. Clearing leaves and twigs off the car every morning. Fun and games when it’s a daily driver and there’s no garage.

Keeping on keeping on. Chugging away through daily duties - including coping admirably with yesterday’s flooded roads. Even with a months rain falling in hours, we still have a hosepipe ban locally and I don’t have time to dig out the buckets. So it’s the rat rod look for the foreseeable.

Yesterday was fun.

Daily (and nightly) drive.

Today's job: snapped cable, so OEM replacement.

God knows when this was last cleaned!
